Download & install
Atlas runs on Windows 10 and 11. The full app is free for 30 days, with no account and no card to start. Download it, run it, point it at a folder, and you are browsing.
Install it
- 1Download the installer from the Atlas site and double-click it.
- 2It installs just for you, so there is no admin prompt and no password.
- 3Atlas opens on its own when the install finishes.
If Windows warns you
The beta installer is not signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say the publisher is unknown. That is expected. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Add a folder
The first time Atlas opens, the Welcome to Atlas screen asks for a folder. Click Add a folder and pick any folder of images; Atlas reads through it, building previews as it goes. Bigger folders take a moment the first time, then open instantly after that.
Updates
Atlas checks for updates on its own and shows the version and status at the bottom of the sidebar: Up to date, or Update available when a newer build exists.
- Update now downloads the new build.
- Restart Atlas to update installs it and reopens Atlas. You never download an installer from the site again.
